Circle Middle School teacher Davis Laughlin didn't have enough online votes to be selected as the Top Teacher in a contest on "Live With Regis and Kelly."
Instead, a high school English teacher from Belmond, Iowa, received the top honors out of the five finalists that appeared on the morning show last week.
All of the finalists were winners, the hosts said.
Laughlin, who appeared on the show Wednesday, received 30 computers for his school and a $10,000 gift certificate from Lowe's to support his hobby of home improvement.
The Circle science teacher was nominated for the contest by an eighth-grade student and his family. Laughlin won an online vote to be one of the five finalists who were awarded with a trip to New York to be on the show.
