Four children and five adults were injured Tuesday night when their sport utility vehicle rolled over on Interstate 70 in Kansas City, Kan.
All nine were passengers of the SUV that rolled over before 9 p.m. in the eastbound lanes near 57th Street, Kansas Turnpike Authority dispatchers said.
One 8-year-old child and one adult were ejected from the vehicle and rushed to a hospital. They were expected to survive, Kansas City, Kan., Fire Chief Craig Duke said.
A 5-month-old, a 4-year-old and a 17-year-old were hospitalized with less severe injuries. Four adults also were transported by non-emergency ambulance.
All lanes of traffic reopened shortly after 10 p.m.
