WICHITA — Autopsy results and other evidence indicate the death of a 29-year-old woman found Monday at her south Wichita home was a suicide, authorities said today.
An autopsy showed Kristi Vliem died from a single gunshot wound to the head, homicide Lt. Ken Landwehr said. A gun was found at the scene in her home, which is in the 500 block of South Sylvan.
Vliem was found at 2 p.m. Monday by someone who went to check on her after she did not show up for work as expected.
Investigators initially treated Vliem's death as suspicious, and Landwehr said forensic tests are still planned on some evidence found at the scene. But at this point her death appears to be a suicide, he said.
Vliem was a civilian supervisor at the McConnell Air Force Base commissary.
