WICHITA — A 68-year-old Wichita man was critically injured when he was struck by an SUV as he was walking across Broadway Wednesday night, police said.
The incident occurred shortly after 7:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of North Broadway. The SUV was driving north in the curb lane of Broadway when the elderly man stepped off the curb and was struck.
He was taken to Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus with a head injury and a fractured pelvis. He remains in critical condition today, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Following the collision, the 39-year-old driver and his 35-year-old passenger were interviewed by police and released.
The victim's name is not being released pending confirmation of his identity, police said. The case remains under investigation.
