SALINA, Kan. | A Salina man who had recently been released from a prison work facility has been charged in the alleged rape of an elderly woman at a hospital.
Forty-six-year-old Paul Henry Parker Jr. was charged today after hospital employees found him Saturday in the room of woman in her 90s at Salina Regional Health Center. His bond was set at $500,000.
Parker is charged with two counts each of rape, attempted rape, aggravated sexual battery and battery. He also faces one count of rape when consent was obtained by misrepresenting that sexual intercourse was medically or therapeutically necessary.
Police say the rape appears to be a random act, and Parker was not a patient at the hospital.
The Kansas Department of Corrections says Parker was released Jan. 15 from a work facility in Hutchinson. He has been imprisoned numerous times since 1984 for crimes including burglary, aggravated burglary, theft and indecent liberties with a child.
