EL DORADO, Kan. | The suspect in the brutal slaying of a Kansas college student is expected to take the stand in his own defense.
Twenty-six-year-old Israel Mireles is charged with capital murder, rape and aggravated sodomy in the November 2007 death of Emily Sander.
Mireles is scheduled to testify Friday before the case goes to the jury.

Authorities found a knife with Sander's blood on it at a Baxter Springs house his girlfriend was staying in.
