CARTHAGE, Mo. | A Carthage man who is a suspect in his son's death has pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of making a false report to police.
The Joplin Globe reports that Eddie A. Salazar entered the plea today in Jasper County Circuit Court.
Police have said the 29-year-old Salazar is the only suspect in the death of his 8-month-old son, Eddie Salazar Jr. The infant's body was discovered Saturday in a river east of Carthage.
Police say Salazar originally told police that two masked men broke into his home, beat him up and took his son.
