JEFFERSON CITY | The Missouri Senate has passed legislation imposing new restrictions on sexually oriented businesses.
The legislation would ban nudity at strip clubs and force partly nude employees to stay 6 feet away from customers. It also would make strip clubs and adult video stores close by midnight and restrict the location of new adult entertainment businesses.
Senators passed the bill 29-2 Thursday, sending it to the House.
The bill by Republican Sen. Matt Bartle, of Lee's Summit, received initial approval last week shortly after Bartle testified before a federal grand jury. Bartle contends there was a link between a $35,000 donation by the adult entertainment industry to a political committee and the demise in the House of a similar bill he sponsored in 2005.
