Newman University students are collecting food through Saturday to send to survivors of the earthquake in Haiti.
Community members are welcome to bring canned food, water and other non-perishable items to the campus, 3100 McCormick.
Students will collect the food from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Gorges Atrium.
As part of "Help 4 Haiti Week," Saturday's basketball games at Newman will be free to anyone bearing two food items and wearing a blue shirt. The women play at 2 p.m., and the men play at 4:30 p.m. in Fugate Gymnasium.
Newman "Superfan" shirts will be on sale for $10, with proceeds going to the International Red Cross for its response in Haiti.
Numana will send the food the Newman students collect to Haiti with food packed by local volunteers over the weekend.
