Kansas Turnpike Authority officials closed a portion of the Turnpike for three hours Sunday for fear of a hazardous chemical leak near Wellington.
A driver noticed liquid dripping off his trailer and took precautions, a dispatcher for the KTA said late Sunday. Authorities later determined the liquid was only water.
The incident was reported at noon near milepost 7, about 12 miles south of Wellington.
Northbound lanes were closed while traffic was rerouted onto U.S. 166. The Turnpike was reopened to traffic shortly after 3 p.m.
