WICHITA _ A 19-year-old man who was badly hurt in a one-vehicle crash early Friday morning in west Wichita remains in critical condition at a local hospital, officials said.
Austin Breitenstein of Wichita was driving south on I-235 shortly before 2 a.m. Friday when his truck drifted off the road into the outside median near the Central exit, the Kansas Highway Patrol reported.
He struck a light pole and a milepost sign, then overcorrected with the steering wheel, causing the truck to roll several times before it came rest sideways across both southbound lanes.
He was not wearing a seat belt. He is being treated at Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus.
