A train crashed into a stalled car early today near 103rd Street and Woodland Avenue in Kansas City, but no one was hurt.
The engineer told police the train came around a corner and saw vehicle headlights on the tracks ahead. The engineer also saw a man standing nearby waving his arms, trying to flag the train down.
The engineer applied the emergency brakes but was unable to stop the train before the wreck at 3:53 a.m. The crossing signal and gate were knocked down.
Police said the man who had been standing near the car ran away after the crash.
