Two young boys are being kept in a local hospital for observation after they were run over by a Yukon on Wednesday afternoon in south Wichita, police said.
The boys, ages 11 and 7, were riding a bicycle in the 2800 block of South Hillside at about 2:40 p.m. when they went around the Yukon in a private driveway, police said. The 63-year-old driver of the Yukon was preparing to turn onto the street.
The boys hit sand and fell off the bicycle into a blind spot of the Yukon, and the driver drove over the boys with the tires on the passenger side of his vehicle.
The children were taken to Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus for treatment of injuries that are not considered life-threatening, police said.
