Lee’s Summit drivers trying to get from U.S. 50 to eastbound I-470 should start looking for a detour this morning.
The ramp from westbound U.S. 50 to eastbound I-470 will close for two months starting at 9 this morning. It’s not planned to reopen until Aug. 14.
Highway crews plan to build a realigned ramp at that location as part of a $46 million project to rebuild the I-470 and U.S. 50 interchange. The project includes a new half interchange at Pryor Road and Blue Parkway with a ramp connecting the two interchanges..
Drivers will be directed to continue west on U.S. 50 and exit and Colbern Road. They should then head west on Colbern over Highway 50 where they can return to southbound U.S. 50 and eventually eastbound I-470.
