Law enforcement agencies in both Kansas and Missouri will step up enforcement of each state’s seat belt and child restraint laws through the end of the month.
The enforcement blitz is part of the national Click It or Ticket seat belt enforcement campaign that runs from May 18 through May 31.
Agencies from Liberty, Shawnee, Olathe and Cass County are among those that have announced they will join state, county and local law enforcement agencies as well as highway safety groups in supporting the national campaign.
“Liberty police will be out in force at night as well as during the day to make sure that drivers and passengers take seat belts, and seat belt laws, seriously,” said Liberty Police Chief Craig Knouse in a release.
The mobilization is being supported by an $8 million national paid advertising campaign that encourages drivers and passengers to buckle up, especially at night.
