A car crashed into the Lee's Summit Wal-Mart about 9:45 a.m. today, possibly because of a medical problem, witnesses told police.
The driver, a 41-year-old Kansas City woman, was taken to a hospital, said Lee's Summit Police spokesman Mike Childs. Her condition was unknown, he said, but witnesses' statements indicated she may have had a medical problem while driving.
Witnesses reported the car was traveling westbound in a parking lane at the Wal-Mart at Missouri 291 and Tudor Road and ran into the building. Marks on the pavement indicated the car was accelerating as it struck the building, Childs said.
No injuries were reported inside the store. The impact damaged an area of brick about 10 feet wide and 6 feet high.
