A Lawrence man has been sentenced to 6 1/2 years in prison after admitting to possessing nearly 14,000 images of child pornography on his computer.
The U.S. Attorney's Office in Kansas City, Kan., said Wednesday that 51-year-old Richard McNett will not be granted parole under terms of the sentence. McNett pleaded guilty in August to one count of possessing child pornography.
The investigation began after McNett's wife gave Lawrence police floppy disks from his computer and told them that he was locking himself in a room with a computer and refusing to allow anyone in.
Investigators found nearly 14,000 images of child pornography on diskettes, the computer's hard drive and compact disks. Using the Child Victim Identification Program, investigators were able to identify 559 images of known victims.
