PATTON, Mo. | The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a 9-year-old boy is safe and a teenager is in custody after they went missing following the shooting death of their foster mother.
The patrol said Jacob Humphrey was found in good condition at around 7 a.m. Wednesday, and that 17-year-old John Wilfong was taken into custody. An Amber Alert was issued for Humphrey after he and Wilfong disappeared from the Patton home where the woman was found dead.
Details of how they were found were not immediately available.
Sheriff-elect chief deputy Leo McElrath said the woman's husband arrived home from work at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday to find her dead. McElrath said the couple's home in Patton did not appear to have been burglarized or ransacked, nor was there any signs of forced entry.
Humphrey and Wilfong -- and the woman's sport utility vehicle -- were missing when deputies arrived.
The Highway Patrol said the Amber Alert has been canceled.
