COLUMBIA | Missouri advanced to 5-1 in the first month of the new college basketball season. Easily.
Tigers 91, Western Illinois Leathernecks 52.
Earlier this season, Western Illinois hung with Kansas State until late in the second half, the Wildcats winning 77-64 in Manhattan on Nov. 17.
But this one was a blowout almost from the beginning.
Never miss a local story.
Missouri scored the first 10 points of the game and connected on six of seven three-point shots in the first half, building a 50-17 bulge.
And it was more of the same in the final 20 minutes.
DeMarre Carroll led MU with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Stefhon Hannah had 21 points. Keon Lawrence scored 10 points (all in the second half) with six rebounds.
And Leo Lyons, large for a would-be point guard, dished out six assists to go with eight points.
