The body of a woman was recovered this morning along the Missouri River near Lexington, Missouri Water Patrol reported.
The identity of the white female has not been determined. Authorities located her about 5:45 a.m. and were in notifying law enforcement agencies in the area on reports of missing persons.
An autopsy will be done to determine the cause of death, said Officer Kim Davis with the Missouri Water Patrol.
Davis said fishermen were on the Missouri River in Clay County last night saw the woman’s body in the water and immediately notified the Sheriff’s Department. The water patrol was summoned around 10 p.m., and crews spent the night searching for the body, Davis said.
