My Answer/ Billy Graham

DEAR REV. GRAHAM: My fiance admits he drinks too much sometimes but promises he'll stop once we get married. My parents say he's lying and I'm a fool to believe him, but I can't bear the thought of living without him the rest of my life. Who is right? —D.G.

Dear D.G.: Your fiance may sincerely plan to stop drinking once you are married — but almost every week I get at least one letter from someone who found they (or their spouse) couldn't keep this promise. If he won't (or can't) stop now, what reason will he have to stop once you are married?

In other words, the time to confront this problem is now, not later. If you and your fiance fail to do this, you'll only be opening the door to more serious problems later on. The Bible says, "Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler; whoever is led astray by them is not wise" (Proverbs 20:1).
