Southern Winds horse rescue to hold open house

People can meet horses available for adoption and add to their horse care knowledge when Southern Winds Equine Rescue holds an open house Saturday at 4447 2nd Road in Udall.

The fundraising event, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., includes a farrier program by Richard Clower, a program by veterinarian Jessica Harrison and a presentation on chiropractic benefits for horses by Brian Dopps.

Riders will show the adoptable horses so visitors can see the level of training they have. Southern Winds founder Vic McMullen and volunteers will be on hand to talk about the history of the rescue and share success stories.

Tours of the facility will be offered throughout the day, and a silent auction will raise funds for the rescue. Free refreshments will be served.
