Do you have a hot, dirty dog? Head for a local dog wash, where volunteers will get your dog clean and cool for a donation that will go to a worthy cause.
On July 20, a dog wash at GreenAcres Market, 8141 E. 21st St., will benefit the Sedgwick County Animal Response Team. Hours are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and a $20 donation is requested. SCART is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the survival and welfare of animals during disasters in Sedgwick County and surrounding areas.
From 1 to 4 p.m. every Saturday through Sept. 7, weather permitting, volunteers from RETAIN will hold a dog wash outside Heartland Animal Hospital, 4100 N. Woodlawn in Bel Aire. For a requested donation of $4 for a small or medium-size dog and $5 for a large dog, volunteers will shampoo, rinse and towel off dogs. Proceeds go to Responsible and Ethical Treatment of Animals in Neighborhoods, a local group that helps pay for spay and neuter surgeries for pets whose owners can’t afford them.
