Dog wash to benefit RETAIN starts Saturday

Fans of the RETAIN summer dog wash will be glad to know that the service is back for the season, starting Saturday.

Every Saturday between 1 and 4 p.m. through Sept. 7, weather permitting, volunteers will shampoo, rinse and towel off dogs for a requested donation of $4 for a small or medium-sized dog and $5 for a large dog.

Proceeds from the dog wash, held outside Heartland Animal Hospital, 4100 N. Woodlawn in Bel Aire, go to Responsible and Ethical Treatment of Animals in Neighborhoods, a local group that helps pay for spay and neuter surgeries for pets whose owners can't afford them.

Skaer Veterinary Clinic will hold an open house from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at 404 S. Edgemoor.
