Meet adoptable horses at Southern Winds open house

Southern Winds Equine Rescue will hold an open house Saturday at 4447 Second Road in Udall.

The program, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., will include a farrier demonstration by Jenny Montgomery and information from veterinarian Jessica Harrison. Chiropractor Brian Dopps will demonstrate and discuss chiropractic applications for horses.

Riders will showcase horses available for adoption. There will also be tours of the facility and a silent auction to benefit the rescue.

Southern Winds has assisted in the rehoming of horses that reside at the rescue, plus dozens of other horses this past year whose owners could no longer care for them.

Class time is 6 p.m., and the cost is $40 for the two-day session.

• Leash Work Revisited – Tuesday and Thursday

Walking nicely on a loose leash is easier said than done and one of the hardest skills humans have to work on with their canine companions. This two-day intensive course is designed to break down leash work, teach it step by step and help make you and Fido feel more comfortable and confident while out on a walk. Class time is 6 p.m.; cost is $40 for the two-day session.
