Family Dog to offer therapy dog testing

Family Dog Training & Behavioral Center, 69th Street North and Hoover Road, will offer therapy dog testing and an informational session about therapy dog work this month.

At an informational session Sept. 14, trainers will answer questions about therapy dog volunteering and take a look at the testing requirements for certifying as a team. The session costs $15 and starts at 6 p.m.

The Therapy Dog International test will be administered on Sept. 21, scheduled for 6 p.m. Time is subject to change due to group size.

Enrollment and proof of vaccinations are required. All annual vaccinations must be up to date for rabies, DHP-PV and Bordetella. Call 316-755-2839 for enrollment and availability.

Retain seeks items for garage sale

Responsible and Ethical Treatment of Animals in Neighborhoods (Retain), a local nonprofit that helps pay for spay and neuter surgeries for pets whose owners can’t afford them, will hold its 15th annual fundraising garage sale from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 27-29 at 615 S. Roosevelt.

KansasKatz Cat Club show next weekend

The KansasKatz Cat Club will hold its fourth annual TICA Championship and Household Pet Cat Show Sept. 15-16 at the Sunset Banquet Hall, 1407 E. Harry.

The show features exotic breeds of cats such as the Bengal, Peterbald, Scottish Fold, Norwegian Forest Cat and Munchkin.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for children 4-12 and seniors 55 and older, free for children under 4. Military personnel get $1 off with ID.
