Seamus the Constant Companion, a 7-month-old male rough collie/Labrador retriever mix, 117 pounds, is available for adoption from Kansas Humane Society.

Some folks might look at my age and say, “Oh, he is old.” If I were human, you would call me wise. We would be the ones with tales to tell and stories to write. I am a devoted companion who will give unconditional love and attention. Come visit me and see how this old dog still has some new tricks in him. Senior for Seniors Program: Anyone over 65 years old who adopts a dog over 5 years old gets 50 percent off their adoption fee.

Also available:

•  Paige the Loving Lab, 2-year-old female Labrador retriever mix, 44 pounds

Look at this sweet face! I'm friendly and kind and would love to go home with you. My favorite things in the whole world are playing fetch and being petted. Going on walks is also great. I'm fantastic on a leash; I'll just walk or trot next to you and enjoy the scenery. Sound good? Take me home!

•  Sadie the Wallflower, 3-year-old female pit bull mix, 65 pounds

See my big grin? That's what you can look forward to seeing every day if you take me home. With all the new changes in my life recently, I'm a bit shy, but with a little love from you I'll come out of my shell in no time. I've got charm and a sweet personality; now I'm just looking for the right person to give all my love to. Could it be you?

•  Roosevelt the Teddy Bear, 2-year-old male tabby, gray and white with green eyes

Roosevelt is just a great big, cuddly teddy bear. Part Maine Coon, he has the biggest paws you've ever seen and uses them to make giant biscuits in your lap. He always has a thoughtful look, but that's because he takes lap lounging very seriously.

•  Lilly the Secret Admirer, 6-year-old female cat, black and white with green/gold eyes

I am a quiet girl and I get a little frightened by loud children. But I'm fine with teenagers – I can help you play video games. I really like to sit in the window, watch the birds outside, and fall asleep in the warm sun. My favorite toy is a kitty fishing rod - I will chase it for ages. Come visit me today.
