Botanical name: Aster oblongifolius "Raydon's Favorite"

Description: "Raydon's Favorite" is a very showy, bushy perennial aster. In the fall, hundreds of fine-textured, blue-lavender flowers with contrasting yellow centers cover the plant. The mounded gray-green foliage is aromatic when handled. Reaches a mature height and spread of 2 to 3 feet.
Growth tips: This plant is a fast grower in a variety of conditions. It is tolerant of clay and sandy soils, but performs best when planted in full sun in average to dry soil amended with compost.
History: Displayed at Botanica since 2000.
Uses: Attractive to butterflies. A good selection for a naturalized area, perennial border or wildflower garden. Makes a good cut flower.
