Admission is free for members, and $3 for non-members if they have a Riverfest button. There will activities and crafts for kids during the day. Admission will also be discounted $2 with a Riverfest button each day of the festival.

On June 8, the Prairie Winds Daylily Society will have a Butterflies ’n’ Bloom Show from 1 to 5 p.m. at Botanica, with daylily flowers presented individually and in arrangements. Lenora Larson, a Miami County master gardener who maintains a two-acre garden in the English-estate style at Long Lips Farm in rural Paola, will give a talk on attracting butterflies at 1:30 p.m. Admission is to the show and talk are free.

Designer Q&A

Q: We’ve lived in our house a year now, and I don’t really feel like we’ve achieved that warm homey feel. We don’t have a lot of room for shelves, so I don’t have a good spot to put those items that help personalize a space. Any suggestions?

A: Start with a warm rug underfoot and some nice window treatments, and treat the coffee and end/side tables as places to keep some of your personal favorites, including books and vases. A pretty throw over a sofa adds a wonderful layer, also.
