A historic fountain in Victoria Park at 17th Street and Park Place is among the sights on the 2012 Midtown Historic Home Tour this weekend.
The National Humane Alliance fountain was given to Wichita 102 years ago for watering horses, dogs and cats – the larger animals from the top bowl, and the smaller animals from the lower bowl.
At the heart of the tour are historic houses on Park Place, including the Wey mansion at 1751 N. Park Place. The tour also will feature costumed docents giving tours, live music, vintage cars and bicycles and refreshments at Victoria Park along the tour route. Members of the Wichita Police Mounted Unit will be at the event Saturday.
Tickets are $10. Children 12 and under will be admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Tickets will be available at Fairview Christian Church, just a block west of Park Place at 1650 N. Fairview Ave., during the tour. Tour hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Houses on the tour are at 1505 N. Park Place, 1536 N. Park Place, 1759 N. Park Place and 1751 N. Park Place. For more information, go to the website midtownwichita.org or call 316-250-7993.
