Tasks: We were going to plant more seed for the fall garden, but it was raining. We'll try again next week.
Observations: We have hot Asian peppers coming out our ears! Luckily, they dry for later use very easily. We had our first cantaloupe ripen late last week, to the point where it came off the vine by itself. The Honey Bun weighed 3 to 4 pounds and was quite tasty. There are also a couple more melons growing. The cantaloupe plant has really loved the hot weather and shows very little sign of stress compared to many of our other plants.
Challenges: Birds have been pecking into the tomatoes. We picked a few tomatoes a little on the green side this week before the birds could get to them.
Anticipated next week: Continued harvesting, deadheading, removing dead plants, and probably more seed planting for fall.
