A free Asian Wellness Day health and wellness fair on Saturday will include refreshments, karaoke and a traditional Lion Dance. The fair will be from noon to 4 p.m. at Colvin Elementary School, 2820 S. Roosevelt.
Vietnamese-speaking health professionals will offer ideas on staying healthy and preventing and detecting various cancers. Free hepatitis B blood tests, bone density tests and clinical breast exams will be offered.
The event is sponsored by Farmers Insurance Group (David Pham), Gilead Pharmaceutical Co., the Susan G. Komen Foundation, Primary Care Associates, Early Detection Works, the American Cancer Society, State Farm Insurance (Lien Nguyen), Catholic Charities, the city of Wichita, and Colvin Neighborhood City Hall.
Health ethics workshop offered
"Ethics at the Bedside: How Do We Make These Difficult Decisions?" is the topic for an Oct. 15 workshop being sponsored by Kansas Health Ethics.
It will be from 1 to 5 p.m. at Wesley Medical Center and is for any health care worker interested in health ethics. The workshop, which costs $40 until Oct. 10 or $50 after, offers four continuing education units.

Free health screenings
Wichita Technical Institute is having a fall open house from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 20, and it will include some free health screenings along with answers to questions about medical careers.
The open house will be on WTI's East Campus, at 6130 E. Central, Suite 202.
Flu shots will be available from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. for $30; insurance will be filed.
