Difficult to believe, but it’s time for the eighth annual Sisterhood of the Divine Makeover! If you’ve been wishing you could have a whole new look for spring, here’s your chance to get a head-to-toe makeover and be featured in The Eagle’s WichiTalk. The great news? If you’re chosen, it won’t cost you one thin dime. You’ll also be the honored guest at a luncheon where your new look will be revealed.

The whole process is so much fun. This is one of my favorite things I do all year.

Here’s the deal: We have local salons and retail stores at the ready to provide their expertise and merchandise to our winners.

We want to do makeovers for two lucky women and two more who are a mother/daughter or grandmother/granddaughter duo or two females who are dear friends with ages at least 20 years apart. The younger person must be at least 14 years old.

It never fails. Past winners have said they had an experience they’ll never forget and that they had the time of their lives.

Feel free to nominate someone, but make sure they could arrange to be available for all the appointments and the luncheon. The deadline, which is May 19, will be here before you know it. This year, judges are going to select two women and a couple to receive head-to-toe makeovers. I learned at the first judges meeting that they take this part of the process very seriously.

Participating retailers are Dillard’s Towne East for the mother/daughter duo and GM Clotheshorse. The third retailer will be announced later.

Participating salons are Planet Hair, Salon Knotty and Charisma salons east and west, who will be doing the mother/daughter team.

Specs will be providing the eyeglasses again this year.

During the Sisterhood of the Divine Makeover Luncheon — 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 23 at the Wichita Marriott, 9100 Corporate Hills Drive — an attendee will be chosen for an instant makeover. Eric Fisher will do the winner’s hair, and she’ll get an outfit from Foggy Bottom.

How to enter or nominate someone for a free makeover:

•  Send a photo taken in the past six months. It must be a photo you don’t need returned. (You may e-mail a photo, but the judges prefer a color printed photo.)
•  Include the name, age, occupation and phone numbers for the nominated person.
•  Tell us briefly why you or the nominee want (or need) a makeover.

Those chosen to receive a makeover must:

•  Agree to be available for appointments at the salons and retailers. (They will work with your schedule.)
•  Agree to be featured in The Wichita Eagle and online on Kansas.com.
•  Attend the luncheon June 23. (The winners will be our guests for the luncheon.)
•  Be available May 23 or 24 for a “before” photograph at The Wichita Eagle, 825 E. Douglas.

All entries must be submitted by 5 p.m. May 19. Judges will choose the winners on May 21, and I will contact them that afternoon.

Showing their good goods

Don’t forget Carly Beck and Ashley Baker, the gals from Sedgwick Studio handbags, will be at Wichita Country Club on Saturday for a trunk show from 2 to 4 p.m. They grew up here, live in New York now and named their company after our county. Refreshments will be served, so please make a reservation. We’ll make it easy: Just e-mail or call me and let me know if you’re coming, and I’ll let them know.
