People who have good friends are fortunate. I'm fortunate, but I feel even more so because so many of my friends are funny.
All of them are not crazy, knee-slapping, wild funny, but just funny.
Lately, for one reason or another, I've noticed my pals are a bunch of entertaining people.
When I have lunch with my friend Joyce, we laugh no less than 80 percent of the time. Add Jeanine to the mix, and that number goes up to 90 percent.
Never miss a local story.
At work, Denise can launch into a comic routine complete with dead-on imitations of people.
She is one of many fun people in the newsroom. Some, like Bob, Fred and Lori, have a dry sense of humor.
My pal Vicky can crack me up with her quick wit and does so often. Sometimes I'll think of the same quip, but she says it before I finish thinking it.
Sally is my funny, outrageous friend who thinks of life as a vacation. She's one of those people who loves to take a dare, even when she's giving herself the dare.
And don't you love the friends who don't mind laughing at themselves? My friend Ted, who can imitate anyone he's ever seen or heard, is funny, but when he imitates himself, it's priceless.
My friend Linda and her husband, Joel, went to dinner with a couple who manage to stay trim by taking part of their dinners home with them. My friends decided they'd do that, too. "But we ate it out of the take-home box while we were still at the table waiting on the check. We couldn't even get home with it!" She was laughing as hard as the rest of us as she told the story.
And, luckily, I'm married to a very funny man. His sense of humor can turn a bad situation completely around. But that humor can also put me in quite a situation. He's fond of pretending he doesn't know me and saying something embarrassing when we're on a full elevator.
He also enjoys making me laugh when we're in a situation where I shouldn't be smiling, let alone laughing.
Stop and think about who makes you laugh and why. Now, aren't you glad they're in your life? Tell them! Tell someone you appreciate their humor and you'll likely get this response: "Oh, I'm not so funny," then they'll say something funny.
