The stars strolled down the red carpet at the Academy Awards on Feb. 26, but those in the movie business aren’t the only ones who got dressed up in February. Wichitans had their own red carpets, first at the American Heart Association’s 18th Annual Wichita Heart Ball on Feb. 18 at the Drury Plaza Hotel Broadview. They had another opportunity at the annual Episcopal Social Services’ Night on the Red Carpet Academy Awards party Feb. 26 at Abode.
At both events, women showed off a wide variety of evening gowns, from chic little black dresses to elegant ball gowns.
Red always is popular for the Heart Ball event, but another favorite color on that evening seemed to be in the silver category, with plenty of shimmer, shine and some sparkle. Even the American Heart Association Sweethearts wore matching gray taffeta dresses.
At the Academy Awards party, several pulled out all the stops and loved the razzle-dazzle of evening attire. The weather was so mild that most guests left their coats at home.
Here is a sampling of who wore what.
