Q: I have liked barbecue, but have never found any I loved since Willy's in Wichita. I have found it again: Starvin' Marvin's in Pratt, on the northeast corner of US 54 and US 281. The ribs, pulled pork, brisket, and loaded baked potato are outstanding. Marvin is a great conversationalist.
A: Andy, Thanks for the tip. I used to drive through Pratt pretty often on my way to Dodge City, but I'd always be too distracted by Donald's Serva-teria Smorgasbord to notice much else. Ha ha.
Question of the week
And a few answers to last week's question: Wichita has a lot (A LOT!) of food-related fundraisers throughout the year, including Zoobilee, the Midwest Winefest, the Celebrity and Chef Cookoff, Cookies & Cocktails and now Taste of Wichita. Which one's your favorite?
“Midwest Beerfest! Okay, I'm prejudiced because I'm on the board, but we raise a LOT of money for children’s' charities!” _ kathie
“The good Father's Cigar's and gourmet dinner at the Hyatt. I haven't heard mention of it recently. I love good food and good cigars. It was for a great cause as well.” _ JinJiang
“Museums A la Carte' was always a good one that supported all the museums on the river. Alfresco for Botanica, themed dinners in the gardens. However, they have changed the format on that one. Then my newest favorite is Loaf Off: A meatloaf competition to benefit Make-A-Wish. But like someone else posted, I may be a little bias since I work there.” _jolostone
