Television picks for the week of Aug. 17-23

DON’T MISS: “Doctor Who” – Regeneration happens. And so it is that Peter Capaldi finally gets the keys to the TARDIS this week. Capaldi, a 56-year-old Scottish actor and lifelong “Who” fan, becomes the 12th Time Lord in the wildly popular franchise, and he appears poised to battle Cybermen, Daleks and any other heinous villains that dare come his way. The feature-length season opener, “Deep Breath,” promises a “pulse-racing adventure through Victorian London.” We’re so ready. 7 p.m. Saturday, BBC America
