Special

"The People v. Leo Frank"

Nearly 100 years later, the 1913 murder of Mary Phagan and the trial and lynching of Leo Frank, a Jewish factory supervisor, still resonates in an America that outwardly prides itself on being a melting pot yet still is wary of "the Other." A cast led by Will Janowitz and Seth Gilliam re-enacts many of the still-harrowing events, which inspired the Tony-winning Broadway musical "Parade." 9 p.m., PBS and KPTS, Channel 8.

Series

"Heroes"

Time travel can come in handy. Hiro takes a trip three years into the past, where he has a second chance to save Charlie from Sylar's clutches, but the presence of Samuel could throw an obstacle in his path. 7 p.m., NBC and KSNW, Channel 3.

Movie

"Vertigo"

What a pity that Oscar ignored the magnificent performances of James Stewart and Kim Novak in Alfred Hitchcock's brilliant 1958 drama. Stewart plays Scottie Ferguson, a detective forced into retirement by his fear of heights and resulting dizzy spells. An old friend asks him to tail his wife (Novak), who appears to be possessed by the spirit of her suicidal great-grandmother. 7 p.m., TCM, Channel 65.

Sports

NFL Football

Rivalries divisional and otherwise are revisited in the Big Easy as the New Orleans Saints take on the Atlanta Falcons with what could be first place in the NFC South on the line. Quarterback Drew Brees has the Saints' offense clicking to the tune of an NFL-best 36 points per game, a primary reason they were unbeaten through Week 5. Matt Ryan, meantime, is putting together an impressive year after leading Atlanta to the playoffs as a rookie in '08. 7:30 p.m., ESPN, Channel 32.
