Wedding rings follow tattoos

Mariah Carey really did get married to Nick Cannon in the Bahamas last week -- and they have the tattoos to prove it.

The 38-year-old singer and the 27-year-old actor confirmed to People magazine that they tied the knot at Carey's Bahamian estate April 30 after a courtship that began in late March.

In an interview from the magazine's May 19 issue, Cannon said they clicked instantly when Carey cast him as a lover in the video for her new single, "Bye Bye."

They began a whirlwind romance, and raised eyebrows when Carey was seen sporting a huge diamond ring at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of her movie "Tennessee," in which she plays a waitress. Carey said she told "only about four people" about the wedding.

Were Carey's friends surprised?

"Some were, but some weren't," she said. "One thing (few people) knew was we got tattoos a few weeks earlier. So anyone who saw my ("Mrs. Cannon") tattoo wasn't surprised."

Chiming in, Cannon said, "To me rings are special and exciting, but tattoos mean more than anything. They're forever and ever. They professed our love."

Winehouse arrested on drug charge

Amy Winehouse, the celebrated retro-soul crooner who scored five Grammys for her CD "Back to Black" and the ironically titled single "Rehab," was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of drug possession. The arrest comes two weeks after she allegedly head-butted a guy who tried to help her out by hailing her a cab. (No charges were filed in that incident.)

The 24-year-old singer was arrested at a police station in East London upon being questioned about a video that allegedly shows her using drugs in her North London digs. In January, the British tabloid the Sun published stills from the same video, which it claims show Winehouse smoking crack.

Lennon's lyrics to be auctioned

A document containing John Lennon's lyrics to "Give Peace a Chance," written during the legendary 1969 "Bed-in" protest for peace, will be auctioned in London this summer.

In the meantime, fans can see it at Christie's New York auction house through Saturday.

Christie's says Lennon gave the handwritten lyrics to then 16-year-old Gail Renard -- now a comedy writer for British television -- during the eight-day Bed-in with Lennon and Yoko Ono at the Queens Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal.

Lennon penned the lyrics and recorded the song in the hotel room with about 50 guests, who included singer Petula Clark and beat poet Allen Ginsberg.

The song is expected to bring $400,000 to $600,000 at the July 10 auction.

Favorite mom? Ripa

A USA Today poll of 13,300 readers has revealed that the mom we most love, aside from our own, is... Kelly Ripa.

Ripa, a mother of three, had 25 percent of the vote. Angelina Jolie, who is working on her fifth child, is in second place with 23 percent, while Julia Roberts (three kids) and Jada Pinkett Smith (two kids) tie for third place with 22 percent each.

'Terminator' gets a Common touch

The fourth installment in the Terminator franchise, "Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins," will not feature Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is too busy in his role as governor of California.

Instead, Chicago rapper Common, whose CD "Invincible Summer" is due out in July, has been added to the cast as Barnes, a freedom fighter fighting for the human race. The movie, which is due out in May 2009, will star Christian Bale as John Connor.
