I’m not much a breakfast person, but I do love a good breakfast burrito.
And it seems like every restaurant has them these days. Fast food places like Braum’s, McDonald’s, Sonic and Hardee’s. Sit-down places like Doo-Dah Diner, Riverside Cafe, Beautiful Day Cafe and The Good Egg.
Even QuikTrip has breakfast burritos now. They introduced them with much fanfare and colorful signage last week. (They’re serving several versions, including the Ultimate, which includes scrambled egg, shredded cheese, sausage gravy, bacon strips, pepperoni, diced onions and diced green peppers.)
Last week, I wrote about a new breakfast burrito food truck called Dappery Dodo, and on Saturday, at the opening of the new District Marketplace, I had a chance to try one of the truck’s creations. It was stuffed with egg, grilled onions and red pepper, big hunks of sausage and soft potatoes inside a tortilla that the owners had expertly folded and then grilled. It came with a little tub of fresh salsa on the side, and it was heavenly.
Never miss a local story.
With so many breakfast burritos out there, I’m interested to know which ones are best. If you have a favorite breakfast burrito, go to my Dining with Denise Facebook page and nominate it. Let me know where you get it, what’s in it and what makes it so good. If I get enough responses, I’ll tally them up.
