Paleterias Tropicana has operated at 214 W. 21st St. for going on six years. But at the end of the month, it will relocate.
The restaurant, which specializes in authentic Mexican dishes like burritos, tortas and flautas as well as Mexican ice cream and fruit bars, is moving to a bigger space in New Leaf Plaza, the development at 21st and Amidon that just added a Hardee’s.
The last day for the current spot will be either Feb. 28 or Feb. 29, the owner said. The restaurant should be closed only a few days then reopen during the first week of March.
Here’s a review Wichita Eagle Dining Panelist Johnna Kolar wrote about Paleterias Tropicanas in late 2014. She made it sound so good, I immediately went to try it and agreed with her assessment.
Warning: If you look at the post about the move on the restaurant’s Facebook page, which is written in Spanish, don’t rely on Facebook’s translator. The word for “starch” in Spanish is “almidon,” so Facebook translates the address to 2021 N. Starch.
