Texas Roadhouse is not in the regular rotation of restaurants I visit, and it’s not only because of my aversions to long waits for a table and spontaneous public line dancing.
It’s also because of those yeasty rolls they dump on your table as soon as you’ve ordered your meal. Those rolls are straight from heaven – hot, pillowy and served with a side of cinnamon butter. I have almost zero power to resist them, and I just keep eating and eating and eating them.
It’s a similar story at Red Lobster, a restaurant I nostalgically love but a restaurant can rarely persuade anyone to visit with me – until I remind them about the Cheddar Bay biscuits. Please don’t get me started on Le Monde’s crumbly sweet biscuits or Town and Country’s generous bread basket, which includes CINNAMON ROLLS PEOPLE!!!!
What’s your favorite pre-meal bread basket served in or around Wichita? I want to print a carb-filled list.
Never miss a local story.
Go to my Dining with Denise Facebook page and leave your nominee. If I get a good response, I’ll gather them up and print a story.
