Sweet Willy’s BBQ at 4628 S. Seneca is close to opening the food truck its owner has been planning since the restaurant opened in May 2014.
Randy Hare says he is almost finished with his 30-by-8-foot pull-behind trailer that he’ll take around town serving lunch and dinner and providing food for special events. He’s calling it the Sweet Willy’s Mobile Unit and hopes to have it rolling in about two weeks. The trailer, which will be fitted with a smoker, will serve select items from the restaurant’s extensive menu, and Hare said his brisket burnt ends and Carolina pork will likely be among them.
He plans to park the truck at various places around town, and people will be able to place orders online or over the phone and pick them up within 15 minutes. He’ll keep his restaurant open, too, but said he’s considering closing it on Tuesdays to focus on the mobile business.
