Recently, a group of Wichita Eagle employees with stomachs of steel have begun taste testing a few odd restaurant inventions and making videos along the way. We’ve already sampled Pizza Hut’s Hot Dog Bites pizza and Spangles’ peanut butter and jelly jalapeno bacon burger. We’re ready to do our next taste test.

1. The Farina at Riverside Cafe: Seven or eight years ago, a North High student with the last name Farina would visit Riverside Cafe at 739 W. 13th St. for lunch and would request more and more patties be added to his burger. The restaurant then created “The Farina,” which has six 1/2-pound patties layered with cheese and bacon between each patty. It costs $23.99, and although it’s not ordered often, just this week, one customer finished the whole thing.
2. The “Blue Way” sandwich at Nu Way: On July 1, the local chain introduced a limited-time crumbly-but-good burger that’s topped with both blue cheese and bacon.
3. Cap’n Crunch Delites at Taco Bell: The fast-food chain has been heavily advertising this bizarre new dessert, which it describes as “warm, light pastries, coated with fruity Cap’n Crunch’s Crunch Berries cereal and filled with creamy, sweet milk icing.”
