Jimmie’s Diner at 3111 N. Rock Road is back in business as of 5:30 this morning, and its regulars couldn’t be happier.
When owners Linda, Jack and Joe Davidson reopened the diner, which has been closed for renovations since May 30, all of its usual customers started showed up.
“Our coffee drinkers at the counter that solve the world’s problems – they were here this morning as usual,” Linda Davidson said with a laugh. Another customer hugged her and said she was so happy the diner was back.
During the closing, construction crews tore up the floors to take care of plumbing issues, and the dining room also got some needed upgrades, including resurfaced booths, paint, new light fixtures and some flashy new carpet.
Never miss a local story.
The parking lot also was resurfaced, and a new sign was put up out front.
The diner is open from 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and from 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. For more information, call 316-636-1818.
