Friday is National Doughnut Day, which was established in 1938 by the Chicago Salvation Army in honor of women who served doughnuts to World War I soldiers. It’s always celebrated on the first Friday in June.

Dunkin’ Donuts, 333 S. West St., 11310 E. 21st St.: Customers can get a free classic doughnut of choice with any beverage purchase.
Krispy Kreme, 7777 E. Central: Each customer will get one free doughnut – any doughnut.
LaMars Donuts, 3130 N. Rock Road, 3301 E. Harry and 10051 W. 21st St.: Each customer can get one free doughnut if they print and bring in a golden ticket coupon from www.lamars.com/salvationarmy/
Kansas Star Casino, 777 Kansas Star Drive, Mulvane: From 10 a.m. to noon and from 6 to 8 p.m., the casino will be giving doughnuts away in front of the poker room while supplies last.
