Birds on the Roof Cafe, the restaurant and bakery at 550 N. Rock Road that struggled through the last year with new chefs, hours and approaches, closed earlier this month.
Though the number to the restaurant is disconnected, the owners last week answered a patron on Facebook who was asking if the restaurant had closed. It had, the answer said, because business had been too slow. The message said that the owners hope they can reopen some day.
Jimmy Nguyen and his wife, Thao Luu, opened the restaurant in August 2013. A year later, they said they were having difficulties and that they’d close the restaurant in a month if business did not improve. It did temporarily, they said, but not enough. Back in November, they decided to switch the focus to Asian food.
I’ve left a message for the owners and will update this post if I hear back.
