Restaurants open on Christmas Eve
Many restaurants around Wichita will close early on Christmas Eve, which is Tuesday. But some will be open during the evening hours, serving holiday diners. If your favorite restaurant is not on this list, which is not exhaustive, call to check the hours. Here are some that are open later:
A.V.I. Seabar and Chophouse, 135 N. Waco: Open 3:30-8:30 p.m.
BJ’s Brewhouse, 7960 E. Kellogg: Open 10 a.m.-midnight.
Bonefish Grill, 10250 E.13th St.: Open 4-9 p.m.
Chapada Chophouse and Churrascaria, 2142 N. Tyler: Open 11 a.m.-10 p.m.
Chester’s Chophouse, 1550 N. Webb: Open 4:30-8 p.m. by reservation only.
Ciao Italian Kitchen, 1720 N. Webb and 2121 N. Tyler: Open 11 a.m.-9 p.m.
Deano’s Grill & Tapworks, 9747 E. 21st St. North: Open 11 a.m.-midnight.
Granite City, 2244 N. Webb and 2661 N. Maize Road: Open 11 a.m.-10 p.m.
Hana Cafe, 315 N. Mead: Open 11 a.m.-10 p.m.
Hereford House, 1400 Terradyne Drive, Andover: Open 10 a.m.-8 p.m.
The Hill Bar & Grill, 4800 E. Douglas: Open 3 p.m.-2 a.m.
On the Border, 1930 N. Rock Road and 2347 N. Maize Road: Open 11 a.m.-9 p.m.
Outback Steakhouse, 2020 N. Rock Road and 233 S. Ridge Road: Open 11 a.m.-10 p.m.
Newport Grill, 1900 N. Rock Road: Open 11 a.m.-8 p.m.
P.F. Chang’s, 1401 N. Waterfront Parkway: Open 11 a.m.-10 p.m.
Red Robin, 9990 E. 13th St.: Open 11 a.m.-7 p.m.
Redrock Canyon Grill, 1844 N. Rock Road: Open 5-9 p.m.
Sabor, 309 N. Mead: Open 11 a.m.-8 p.m.
Scotch and Sirloin, 5325 E. Kellogg: Taking reservations for 11 a.m.-8:30 p.m.
Siena Tuscan Steakhouse, 104 S. Broadway: Open 6 a.m.-11 p.m.
TGI Friday’s, 2441 N. Maize Road: Open 11 a.m.-9 p.m.
Twelve Restaurant & Bar, 11121 W. Maple: Open 11 a.m.-9 p.m.
YaYa’s Euro Bistro, 8115 E. 21st St.: Open 11 a.m.-8 p.m.
Arena-adjacent bar and pizza place open on Friday
The new Jetty’s Pizza and Walkers Bar and Venue are this close to Intrust Bank Arena. Mickey Lynch is ready to open his two-venues-in-one business, and he officially will on Friday. At 5 p.m., both his Jettys Pizza and Walkers Bar and Venue will open at 222. S. Commerce, just north of Intrust Bank Arena and south of the old Spaghetti Works building.
Jetty’s is a pizza restaurant that will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 11 a.m. to midnight Fridays and Saturdays. Walkers Bar and Venue will have bar food, drinks and live music several times a week. It’ll be open from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily. The two businesses will be connected by a door, and people patronizing either one can order from the next-door menu, too. On Saturdays, Walkers will feature local band Blue Eyed Soul performing from 8 to 11:30 p.m.
YMCA’s Cafe 402 has new owner, menu
The Hyatt, which opened the downtown YMCA’s grab-and-go Cafe 402 a year ago, pulled out in October. As of this week, though, the cafe has a new owner and a new menu. Jason Fisher, who has a long restaurant resume, including a stint with Latour, is the new owner of Cafe 402.
On Monday, he introduced a new menu that includes breakfast items plus lunch wraps, salads and a grilled three-cheese panini. Fisher also has switched to locally-produced Prairie Fire coffee. The cafe, which is open to the public as well as to YMCA members, will also include a carry-out counter with items such as hummus and chicken salad. The cafe’s new hours are 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays. It’ll be closed on Sundays.
Yamasa is closed for remodeling
Yamasa Japanese Grill, the fast-Japanese/sushi restaurant that opened in 2007 at 327 N. Hillside, is closed – but apparently only temporarily. The restaurant, which belongs to Great Wall empire owner Benny Lin, has been closed for about a month. A manager at Great Wall says that Lin is out of the country until the end of December but that Yamasa will be remodeled and should reopen in a few months.
For now, the doors are locked, the chairs are upside-down on the tables, and part of the sign is missing. Lin opened a second Yamasa in 2010 at 407 E. Pawnee, but it converted into a Great Wall about a year later.
