The idea of cooking Thanksgiving dinner is just so ... exhausting.
What to do? Wichitans can either head to a restaurant that’s open and serving on Turkey Day (that list is coming next week) or they can get local restaurants to do the hard part and still have Thanksgiving at home.
Several restaurants and grocery stores will smoke hams and turkeys for the non-kitchen-inclined to serve on Thanksgiving, which is Nov. 28. Some are even willing to deep-fry. And some will cook the whole meal, rolls and all, and send it away in easy-to-reheat packages.
Following is a guide to several places willing to baste your bird for you. Make reservations soon.
Jet Bar-B-Q, 1100 E. Third St., 316-262-7299: The Jet Man will once again be selling his smoked turkeys for $35 and hams for $50. They can be picked up cold on Nov. 26-27 or hot from the pit from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. Call for reservations.
Bierocks, Brats & BBQ, 128 S. Seneca, 316-393-9580: The Delano restaurant is gone, but the owner is still cooking. This year, she’s serving 10- to 20-pound turkeys either smoked ($40 to $60) or deep-fried ($55-$90) or hickory-glazed, bone-in, spiral-cut, double-smoked hams for $45 for a half or $85 for a whole. Pickup is available Thanksgiving morning from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Call by Tuesday for reservations.
Two Brothers BBQ: The local restaurant chain will sell 12- to 14-pound smoked turkeys for $35.99, 20- to 22-pound turkeys for $59.99, half hams for $49.99 and whole hams for $94.99. Pickup is available until 9 p.m. on Nov. 27, and reheating instructions will be included. Make reservations by Nov. 25 by calling one of these five stores: 3134 E. Douglas, (316-978-9990) 3750 N. Woodlawn (316-691-8950); 300 S. Greenwich (316-683-1330); 8406 W. Central (316-729-7755); and 1701 W. Central in El Dorado (316-452-5522). The restaurant requests 24 hours notice on hams and three days notice on turkeys.

When Pigs Fly, 7011 W. Central, 316-295-2150: Selling 12- to 14-pound smoked turkeys for $37.99 and 6- to 8-pound spiral cut hams for $42.99. Order by 9 p.m. Nov. 23. Pickup between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Nov. 27.
B&C Barbecue, 355 N. Washington, 316-263-8815: Selling smoked 12- to 14-pound turkeys for $31.95 and hams that vary in price and weight. Pickup by 4 p.m. Nov. 27. Call for reservations.
Julius Ribcage, 2958 S. Seneca St., 316-524-2900: Customers can bring a thawed turkey or a bone-in ham between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Nov. 23 and pick them up, fully smoked, between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. Nov. 26. The cost is $1.89 a pound.
Two Brothers BBQ: Selling meals that serve large groups, such as 10 to 15 people for $109 or 20 to 25 people for $178. Includes a ham, a turkey, a choice of eight side orders plus cobbler and dinner rolls and is sent in ready-to-reheat containers. Make reservations by Nov. 25 and pick up by 9 p.m. on Nov. 27. Stroud’s, 3661 N. Hillside, 316-838-2454: The restaurant will serve turkey or ham dinners with sides for $19.95 a person, $9.95 for ages 10 and under. Includes roasted turkey or smoked ham entree with sides. Pickup on Thanksgiving Day.
Fresh Market, 1800 N. Rock Road, 316-315-0020: The upscale grocery offers a dinner that feeds six to eight people for $79.99 that includes a cooked turkey, stuffing, potatoes, gravy, cranberry relish and 12 yeast rolls. For $129.99, they have a meal that serves eight to 10 people and includes turkey, ham, stuffing, potatoes, gravy, cranberry relish, corn souffle, green beans with bacon and 24 yeast rolls. Reheating instructions are included. Pies and cakes also are available. Call for reservations.

Green Acres, 8141 E. 21st St. N., 316-634-1088: Green Acres is serving three full holiday meals plus sides that serves four to six people. A dinner with an organic roasted turkey is $119, with a ham is $109 and with prime rib is $149. Available for pickup between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesday. Make reservations by Tuesday.
Garden Grill Cafe, 300 N. Main, 316-978-9213: This vegan restaurant is serving vegan Thanksgiving dishes to-go. Items can be picked up between noon and 7 p.m. Wednesday, or the restaurant will deliver between 3 and 7 p.m. The menu includes several options of dishes that serve eight, although diners can order for more or less than eight.
