Make reservations now for Valentine’s meals

The calendar just flipped to February, so you might think it’s too soon to start planning your Valentine’s Day dinner.

The big day may be more than a week away, but chairs will fill up fast — especially at the several restaurants offering special, out-of-the-ordinary Valentine’s meals.

Following is a list of some of those special meals. Call soon to make your reservations.

On Valentine’s Day

A.V.I. Seabar & Chophouse, inside the Drury Plaza Hotel Broadview, 135 N. Waco, 316-262-3300: The new fine-dining restaurant is offering a Feb. 14 meal that’s $45 a person and includes a champagne toast, choice of soup or salad, appetizer, dessert and choice of entree including a surf-and-turf plate, a grilled lamb chop and more.

Bella Vita Bistro, 120 N. West St., 316-941-4500: The family-owned Italian restaurant will serve a special menu starting at 5 p.m. Feb. 14 that’s $35 a person and includes a three-course meal. Diners can choose soup or salad, an entree and a dessert.

Cooking at Bonnie’s Place, 9747 E. 21st St., 316-425-5223: The cooking school is offering a special meal prepared on Valentine’s Day by Tallgrass Country Club Chef Ben George that will feature mustard-crusted hot smoked salmon, honey-cured beef tenderloin medallions and more. It includes coffee, tea and wine and is $120 a couple. The dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. For more dinner details, visit

Hangar One Steakhouse, 5925 W. Kellogg., 316-941-4900: Offering a special dinner that's $39.99 a couple and includes a 12 oz. prime rib, served with salad and baked potato, a strawberry/chocolate cheesecake martini and choice of wine or champagne.

Kanai, 12111 Maple, 316-719-2929: The sushi restaurant is offering a $40-a-person dinner that will include an appetizer, choice of sushi roll, choice of entree and dessert. It’s available on Feb. 14.

Luca Italian Kitchen, 301 N. Mead, 316-262-3232: The upscale Italian restaurant will offer a Feb. 14 four-course meal that’s $40 a person or $55 a person with each course paired with wine. There will also be live jazz.

Mediterranean Grill, 335 S. Towne East Mall Drive, 316-651-5599: The restaurant is offering a Valentine’s Day special menu plus half-price bottles of wine and a free red rose for each table.

Oeno, 330 N. Mead, 316-440-5000: The wine bar will host a Feb. 14 wine dinner that’s $50 a person and features a four-course meal paired with wines, plus live music. Call for reservations.

During Valentine’s weekend/week

Abuelo’s, 1413 N. Waterfront Parkway, 316-634-2230: The Mexican restaurant is offering a dinner-for-two special good Feb. 10-14 that includes fajitas plus a flan dessert for $29.99.

Bocconcini, 4811 E. Central, 316-613-2523: Chef Nathan Toubia is offering a three-course meal available Feb. 10-20. It includes an appetizer, choice of entree (fettuccini with vodka sauce, shrimp, scallops and mussels or beef and peppers with mashed potatoes), plus dessert. The meal is designed for two and is $30 a couple without wine or $50 including a bottle of wine.

Granite City Food & Brewery, 2244 N. Webb Road, 316-636-5050; and 2661 N. Maize Road, 316-721-8500: The restaurant is offering a $59.99-a-couple special, available Feb. 10-14, that includes choice of soup or salad, choice of appetizer, choice of two entrees and dessert.

Luciano's, 216 W. Main, Mulvane, 316-777-0045: Luciano's offering $50-a-person five course meals Feb. 13-15. Advance reservations are required for all three days, and on Feb. 14, only early and late spots are available. Two different meals, one featuring beef and one featuring seafood, are available. Wine flights are also available for $10 more a person.

Outback Steakhouse, 233 S. Ridge Road, 316-773-5900; and 2020 N. Rock Road, 316-634-6500: The chain is offering a special dinner-for-two Feb. 10-14 that includes a Bloomin’ Onion appetizer, two 8-ounce Outback Special steaks, choice of sides and a cheesecake to share. It’s $34.99. Diners can substitute two filets for $45.99. Outback doesn’t take reservations.

Papa John’s: The pizza chain will once again offer its heart-shaped pizzas. They’re available now through Valentine’s Day.

Taste & See, 3825 E. Harry: Chef Jason Febres is offering special dinner hours and a special menu for couples on Feb. 10, 11, 12 and 14. Couples get a table for two and a five-course meal, prepared live by the chef. It’s $55 a person or $110 a couple. The dinner will include a cash bar or couples can bring one bottle of wine and pay a $20 corkage fee. For reservations, call 316-308-5556 or 316-771-7393.

Ya Ya’s EuroBistro, 8115 E. 21st St., 316-634-1000: Ya Ya’s Valentine’s offering is a $95-a-person champagne dinner on Feb. 13 that will include a five-course meal, each course paired with champagne. The entree is pan-roasted duck breast with smoked gouda polenta. Call for reservations.

Zaytun, 2020 N. Woodlawn, 316-613-2474: The Indo-Pak restaurant is serving a four-course, $25 a person meal, and diners will have choices with each course. It’ll be available Feb. 10, 11 and 14.
